Majorca Tourist Information

It’s certain that typical Majorcan cuisine is strongly linked to Mediterranean food and wine culture. However, the influx of tourists on the island due to the increase of Majorca hotels, has transformed traditional Mediterranean recipes into different tastes from all over the world.

The best idea is to move away from the tourist restaurants, stay in one of the local Majorca apartments and try to taste more authentically Majorcan dishes. The places where this heritage is still present today are called “cellers” which can be found in the buildings of ancient wine producers. Recommended during the summer season is ‘trempò’, a classic vegetable salad, composed of tomatoes, red chilli, garlic, olives, vinegar and salt. It’s a very rich and nutritious dish, an ideal meal after a day out at sea.

For meat-lovers, I recommend tasting the pork dishes, a very popular meat throughout Spain. Arròs the Brut is excellent: rice with a lot of meat and vegetables. This recipe should not be confused with the Arròs Sec, the name […] Continue Reading…

Find The Ideal Hotel In 20 Seconds Or Less

It’s early evening on a Friday night. I’m relaxing in my favorite red bean bag chair with a good book and a glass of wine, when my best friend calls me out of the blue to tell me she’s getting hitched – tomorrow – in Vegas (to a hunky Elvis impersonator,of course), and she absolutely must have me there as her maid of honor. I hang up the phone with my promise to be there (and bring her favorite blue suede heels), with a feeling of dread at the prospect of going to one of those ‘name your own price’ sites to rapidly find the right hotel (I don’t know why but those sites just confuse me!) I race to my computer in a panic to do the only thing I know to do –

I Google […] Continue Reading…
